Our 2024 Holiday Card: A Celebration of San Diego
Every year, we gather for an internal competition to design our holiday card. This year, the winning idea reflects not only our professional, but also our personal ties to the community: a map of San Diego showcasing our team’s favorite places.
As architects, our work is deeply rooted in shaping spaces that foster connection, growth, and belonging. But beyond our roles as designers, we are also residents and enthusiasts of this vibrant city. Through this map, we hope to share the places that inspire us, bring us joy, and reflect the diverse character of San Diego.
From bustling coffee shops and serene parks to architectural landmarks and hidden gems, each location represents a piece of the city we hold dear. We’ve included notes on accessibility, mobility, and how these places are welcomed to people from all paths of life. We’ve also selected a song that pairs with each place—a playful touch to guide you through the city we call home.
This holiday season, we invite you to explore San Diego through our eyes and discover the spaces that make this city so special. Here’s to celebrating community, creativity, and the connections that bring us together. Happy holidays from all of us!

Who: Lauren Comstock
Why: Mellow beach that surfers and sea critters frequent. Usually much less busy than neighboring beaches since it’s not the easiest to get to.
Mobility/Accessibility: There is accessible parking and a point to lookout onto the beach that is accessible, but the main reason this beach is less crowded is there’s 6 flights of stairs to get down to the sand.
Song: Feels Like Summer by Childish Gambino
3. Torrey Pines City Beach and Blacks Beach Trail
Who: Jeremy Granfors
Why: Beach tucked away by the cliffs adjacent La Jolla Farms, magical surf and sunsets.

6. Mission Bay at The Catamaran
Who: Charity Dunphy
Why: Relaxing spot on the bay. Bring something to sit on, snacks /drinks and toys (if needed). It is best at high tide but anytime is great. The water is calm, plenty of sand and a nice view of the bay. We enjoy sitting to the east of the pier. It is a bit of a walk but you can access the Catamaran for clean bathrooms, order drinks, coffee or food to go. I recommend the Drugstore Burger. Inside there are birds, ducks and fish for kiddo viewing.Â
Mobility/Accessibility: Park around the neighborhood and bring a wagon to carry our supplies. If you don’t have a wagon we suggest dropping off and having one person hunt for parking. Ideal parking is on Braemar Lane, Briarfield or PB Drive. There is paid parking at the Catamaran.
