One development. Four sites. Cuatro Family Housing is a transformative development that has been years in the making. Located at four separate intersections in San Diego’s most culturally diverse neighborhood – the buildings boldly take their place among a lively jumble of small businesses, busy traffic, and urban infrastructure. The architecture takes cues directly from the streets – borrowing forms, signage, super graphics, colors, and materials found nearby.
Though bustling on the exterior – the development offers places of quiet and calm within. Small but serene courtyards can be found at the center of each complex – offering a place to gather with neighbors or play with toddlers. The units are a mix of studio, one, two, and three-bedroom plans. Residents at the four parcels will have access to the shared amenities at the largest site – including a Commons room, computer lab, management and social service offices, as well as a generous patio and tot-lot play area.Â
In a model example of public/private partnership – the developer worked closely with the City to create a multi-use plaza at an important crossroads of bike path and transit hub. The plaza will be open daily to the public for informal enjoyment and will serve as an outdoor venue for events programmed by a local non-profit who will locate their offices here. A second non-profit with deep ties to City Heights will lease almost 10,000 square feet of space for a community center that will include meeting spaces and a large commercial catering kitchen.
