This well-respected Greek Orthodox church has had a passion for serving the seniors of the Encinitas area since developing existing below market-rate housing on their property in the 1980’s. This project adds 61 dwelling units along with outdoor living and gathering areas to tie the campus together. The new buildings are tucked behind the iconic golden-domed church whose design is inspired by the whitewashed architecture of the Aegean – and so the new apartments knowingly make a nod to the same.
All units will have generous balconies or patios, stacking washer-dryers and fully accessible bathrooms and kitchens. Sprawling outdoor terraces shaded by olive trees and bougainvillea covered pergolas will provide outdoor amenities like game tables, barbeques and fire pits. A walking circuit and a large community vegetable garden will encourage resident interaction and exercise.
