Located in the heart of the Normal Heights neighborhood of San Diego, The Mars Project will add 175 residential units and ground floor retail spaces intended for restaurant tenants. The building is centered on a series of outdoor and amenity spaces that run through the heart of the development. Starting at street level, a recessed terrace expands the sidewalk and makes a space for outdoor dining. One level above, an elevated courtyard overlooks Adams Avenue, the main pedestrian-oriented commercial thoroughfare in the neighborhood. At the top level, amenity spaces and an outdoor lounge overlook the courtyard and offer long views. All three open spaces are inspired by the presence of Adams Avenue Park across the street and are imagined as an extension of the park through the building.
The project is served by two levels of parking below with extensive accommodation for electric vehicles. Bicycle parking and access are prioritized. Construction will be a combination of concrete and wood frame.
