San Pasqual Academy opened in 2001 as the first residential education campus for foster youth in the nation—providing foster teens with a stable, caring home, independent living skills, and a high school diploma. The 238-acre campus includes family-style homes, an accredited high school, a cafeteria, a technology and career info center, an assembly hall, recreation fields, a swimming pool, and an agricultural education program. This design for Phase I of a residential campus component relates to San Diego County’s ranch and agricultural building traditions. The school's buildings are arranged around a central meadow. Â
