Set upon a steeply sloping site, the home is arranged along a path that begins at the street and ends in the living room with a spectacular and unexpected view of downtown San Diego. The landform is experienced all along the path as one spirals from the high side at the street into the hillside at the master bedroom grotto.
Its contoured form responds to the hillside topography and procession through the home frames panoramic city views. The scale/bulk of the home is minimized at the street frontage, in order to engage the landscape and preserve city and canyon views.
