IMPERIAL BEACH PIER PLAZA
Imperial Beach, CA
The Imperial Beach Pier Plaza & Safety Center is a civic/mixed-use beachfront project for the San Diego Unified Port District and the City of Imperial Beach. Additions and enhancements to the existing Pier Plaza include a comfort station, retail spaces, a public performance stage, improved beach access, a protective concrete sea wall, picnic areas, and public art. The three-acre project incorporates a new 6,800 square foot Safety Center building that houses the city's lifeguard headquarters and a police substation. The lifeguard headquarters features a state-of-the-art training facility and is designed to serve as an Emergency Operations Center in the event of a local disaster.
