Mission Terrace, located in San Diego's hotel-studded Mission Valley, provides affordable rental housing for hospitality industry workers and their families. The site strategy takes its inspiration from the stepped courtyard apartments developed in the Los Angeles Echo Park neighborhood in the 20's and 30's. Buildings terrace up and over a two-level parking garage, creating three distinctive courts. The simple massing of cubic volumes are rendered in a palette of warm hues.
