A CASE STUDY HOUSE FOR SAN DIEGO
San Diego Home & Garden magazine commissioned Studio E Architects to conceive a modest and flexible prototype single-family house. As a response to San Diego's climate, Studio E made a lush garden and arranged rooms on its perimeter. The major living space sits under a tent-like roof within this garden. Cars are placed behind a street-fronting home office and guest quarters, shielding the public realm from auto movement and storage. A human-scaled driveway portal creates a ceremonial entry, allowing views into the garden beyond.
