Situated on an infill lot in one of North San Diego County's oldest neighborhoods, this affordable 16-unit townhome project offers dignified rental housing for families of modest means. The architects were charged with developing a scheme which was both site specific and prototypical.
The townhouses were arranged around a mews that provides incidental access for vehicles but works primarily as a pedestrian street suitable for play and neighborhood gathering. The result is a solution that makes overt references to its immediate locale while presenting a strategy that is clearly replicable.
