9th and Broadway adds affordable service-worker housing and ground-level commercial to the eastern Broadway corridor of downtown San Diego. The design imagines an urban residential type wholly influenced by San Diego's unique climate and setting. Lofty, efficient-yet-sophisticated residences with tall ceilings, large operable windows, and efficient, well-equipped kitchens have views to the San Diego Bay or downtown skyline. Residents have access to landscaped terraces, trellised roof decks and garden courts . The building will be a model of sustainable design in an urban setting incorporating such features as roof gardens, photovoltaic panels and naturally ventilated corridors.
